    PSL gas system Upgrade?

Seeing that the PSL is way overgassed and this can cause excessive beatings to the rear trunnion in a destructive and dangerous way. I've read multiple ways of restricting the gas block to correct this, and it made me wonder a little bit. Couldn't we drill a few ports in the gas tube like on the early Bulgy AK to alleviate some of this extra gas pressure? And to adjust it for weaker ammo have a tight fitting sleeve that would slide over like a sleeve valve?

Man the 8/32 set screw with a 1/16" hole works for me, Oh but you have the tricky gasblock sight set up. Then again you used the 45 degree hole, do you think there is clearance for a tap ?

It has plenty of room for a tap in that front block/sight. I was just thinking if someone had a standard setup and didn't want to or couldn't alter their block it would be a easy parts swap. I'm thinking with my much shorter barrel it will lower the pressure enough to not hammer the trunnion.

The gas tube is too far back- you'd have to releive pressure up in the front area of the gas block where the piston sits, IMO to get any benefit.

Far easier to tap and add a drilled set screw- or drill and tap from the side to make an adjustable gas setup.

Figured it could bleed off a bit of the pressure as it's got a long stroke.

I read recently on Weapons Guild a guy added a hole in the gas piston head.
Looks like an easy mod but if you change ammo hard to adjust.

The AK/PSL system has a long stroke, but the piston fits pretty loose once it hits the gas tube. The big hit comes from when the piston sits inside the gas block.

Hey you can't say anything you don't have one! It was just an idea that might have worked without having to be permanent. Sorry for thinking with my outside voice again.

Just tap the gas hole (8/32" I think) and place a set screw with a smaller hole in it. I have done it on my PSL's and a couple of AK's. tames the lower earth orbit brass and seems to make the recoil milder

I've seen the tap/insert setup, I'm going to wait and see if I will need it with mine.
