I like the job, but wouldn't do it on a 59/66. The gas valve leaking is when, not if.
Thanks you.You ans. my question I knew that the shield was in the way and couldn't figure out how it was removed to gain access to the notch in the bolt. That is a PITA and the gun can't really be shot without the shield.

There is the paper clip trick and you can always replace the gas tube

          First Range Report

So, I took the rifle out to the range with some mixed results

          First, the Good News:
          1. It Shoots!
          2. I was able to sight in the red dot and buis easily
          3. Recoil is VERY MILD with this muzzle brake, very little muzzle jump
          4. It is acceptably accurate. I got consistent 1.5" groups at 75 yards while getting the sights dialed in...so it seems to shoot as well as I do.

But, there was some bad news:
          1. I got a lot of soft-stirkes / failure to ignite. Dented primers but no bang. Could be a crappy batch of cheap Wolff Military Classic, or my Murray FP spring.
          2. The trigger will not reset properly without manually cycling the bolt. It was feeding shells fine, so not short stroking. The problem seems to be that some parts on this Yugo are just built thicker than other SKS out there. The SGworks trigger bar keeps a little bit too much pressure on the SKS trigger bar. This causes the trigger to not reset fully after each shot. I tore the rifle down again and will work on this.

Summary: Accuracy was good, trigger pull / feel / break were great, recoil was mild. Two issues left to resolve, but I'm sure it is a matter of adjustment rather than major work. = me!

How long did you have to wait to get the stock? I have heard that there is a significant wait from the manufacturer. My friend and I want to get one, but the idea of an extra long wait has deterred us.

Soft strikes seem to be common with SKS and wolf.

So, I'm guessing you are talking about gas leaking where the gas tube goes into the gas valve housing.... Yeah. It does that.

What is this paperclip trick you speak of? I'm guessing you build a gas ring out of one? Please enlighten me!

14 months. Nick and Sheri are good people who are really trying hard to get a good product to market. The wait is long, but I like supporting that kind of start-up company and the sooner you order the sooner the clock starts.

                    And they are getting better...

True, and there are oversized valves too.

However, it is the weak point and eventually will give problems, and eventually, be irrepairable. So.........the one SKS I have left, that I will keep forever, is not a 59/66
