    AK Barrel Pin

Ok, so I got my kit. I got the rivet heads ground down. But how do I remove the barrel pin? Tried tapping it out nada. Do I heat it?

    Thanks

Also. Can I bead blast these parts and re-parkerize them? Or do I not want to?

Use the right jig and a 12T press.

You can blast and repark any/all steel parts.

For the barrel pin you have to press it out typically. As for blasting it, it depends on if you want to repark it or what final finish you want.

this sounds like your first build. I would bent your flat and fit the trunnions and drill the holes. Insert all the rivets to make sure its all lined up and then parkerize the individual parts if you want too.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.

Most of us prefer parkerizing the entire assembled action at once. It makes for a more uniform finish and even the rivets will be parked.

Cool. So bead blasting will clean it up and give it a cleaner appearance. Thanks for the help.

Lucky you, I sheared the short pin in my tool trying to press out the pin in my PSL.

I was taking out the barrel pin for my PSL kit on a 20 ton press. I had that bad boy just about maxed out and BOOOOOOOM!!!! The pin moved maybe 1/16th of an inch and then pressed the rest of the way fine. When that bad boy popped though, I just about jumped out of my skin.

I press out barrel pins with a starter pin, slightly smaller diameter barrel pin, a modified socket and a vise.
