After putting a few rounds through my Hi-Power yesterday 1050 - 1100 fps w/ 115 gr. .355 caliber JHPs without issue. I brought my gun in to clean it. When I tried to remove the slide stop / takedown pin I found it stuck. Once I did get it free I found the socket of the recoil spring guide assembly socket had collapsed and broken around the takedown pin of the slide stop.
I have ordered another assembly but was wondering if anyone has ever seen this phenomenon and could give insight on what may have caused it? The firearm is 30+ years old and probably had in excess of 1500 rds. through it mostly factory loads.
