    San Diego laser engraving...

I found a shop in San Diego that will laser engrave markings on your AR-15 lower receiver.
Southwest Trophy & Awards on the corner of Park Ave. and El Cajon Blvd. (619) 296-6269
One of the owners is a retired Marine Corps. Gunnery Sgt. Nice guy.
If you make an appointment they will do it while you wait to avoid FFL issues.
I think I picked a font too large, but I think it gave me what I wanted. Next time I'll pick a 10 point font instead of 12.

It took about half an hour and cost just under $20.
The lady who does the engraving said she could do line-art. So your custom logos and designs can be engraved, too.

i think most people will want letter about 1/8" tall, which is 9 point font( i think).

edit: forgot to ask, how deep is the engraving? most engraving shops have laser that is only capable of surface engraving, meaning removing anodization from anodized parts. They usually can't engrave bare aluminum.

It seems to have just cut through the anodized layer and oxidized the aluminum underneath.
This is 12 point type and is exactly 1/8", but looks too big to me.

        strange, I could've swore 9 point = .125" and 12 point .166".

        72 points per inch right?

Anyway, $20 is a pretty good deal. I can't even find anyone up here to laser engrave a bare receiver. I ended up ordering some die cut vinyl and will etch the marks in.

You probably already know this, if you ever plan on selling it, those marks will not be deep enough.
