    muzzle re-threading

    Hello to all,

Is it possible to re-tap/re-thread a muzzles threading to correct a bad one? This way I can fit a new muzzle break on my AK.

If the barrel has threads but they are slightly damaged, you may be ably to clean them up using the proper die to chase the existing threads. If the threads have been turned down to remove them completely, You may be able to cut new threads on the smaller diameter and use a threaded bushing to restore the correct thread to the barrel. If the barrel would not be shortened more than 16", you could cut the barrel, thread and then re-crown. It really depends on what is meant by "bad one".

      Ub3rD0rk,

Thank you for your reply. My muzzle threads appears to have been cut incorrectly to fit a muzzle brake that has a 1X14LH. I'll look into this issue later in person when I talk to a gunsmith shop to handle the job.
