Why aren't there more build threads?

I asked this question in Roccobro's Cetme/HK build party thread and realized it was really a bad place (thread hijack). Although my personal interest is more centered around those rifles I noticed that there really isn't much here in the way of build threads for anything. Even the centerfire rifles section is mainly packed with store bought weaponry.

There are some cool rifles being built in the build party thread, isn't there any interest in this sort of thing here?

Yes, there is interest in builds.
Some people don't want to post pictures of their builds.
Some just post a finished product after the build is done (normally in the rifle's gallery).
Every now and then someone does something a bit different, and a thread is created for that but for the majority of the builds most people here (that are builders) already understand the processes, and it would be kind of boring to always see a bunch of pictures of > This is me bending my flat. And me riveting in the front trunnion. And me welding my rails in. Here's the park tank, etc.

If you're interested in some really cool, and innovative builds going on perhaps a site like Weaponsguild would be more to your liking. Nothing but builders over there (and really good ones too!).

I dug this up for you though.

      Enjoy.

Now that's a cool thread! I only had a chance to glance through it but I will be going back. For a few minutes I actually wanted an AK pistol!

You made my point for me. I spend way too much time on build sites, entirely too much time actually. The majority of the questions I see posted daily are the ones that come from new builders that are loking for a foot hold. The basic steps in a build thread are the ones that answer the most questions and garner the most interest and interraction.

I guess I thought since this is the "gunsmithing & how-to" forum that it might be more than a place where people come to ask where they can find a gunsmith.

I saw some photos in a thread today that made me want to see more of the build. I guess I can hope they get posted on weaponsguild...

Well, since you insist, here's the build I'm working on right now. I'm almost done with the frame, just need to cut the rails and open up the bottom of the dust cover a bit, the bottom of the frame will rub on it otherwise. The cat's helping, as usual.

Because they are locked & lost forever!

                  oh the irony!

                  holes,
most of the talent is already over at the guild. calguns is less builders forum and more forum dedicated to fighting the good fight and educating kalifornia gun owners

What did it start out as?

I'm going to have to spend some more time reading through the marking portion. I've seen it done with steel but never thought about using the method on aluminum. I also need to see what I did wrong the first and last time I tried to dye my anodized receivers. I couldn't get the color to take.

So why are the build threads locked and lost forever?

If your receivers would not take dye they may not have had a good connection during anodizing.

They don't seem to value them here. That thread is a sticky at AR-15 dot com with nearly 100,000 views.

It's not a Dlask frame, it's a KTO 80% one. Dlask is the company that used to sell the parts kits to finish it (I ended up buy SIG parts. I was ready to buy a Dlask kit, but couldn't find one, so had to bite the bullet and start buying SIG parts). Hey, if you have a spare 80% P228 frame like that, and aren't planning to work on it, I'm still looking for the second one (I want to build one SIG "stock", and to experiment with the second one). It's just that I saw two frames on your picture

I got mine from a guy someplace in Midwest, I believe, a year ago or so. Seemed like a cool project at the time, it still does look that way.
