My First Ak Build- dimpling & rivet questions?

Hey guys I am about to start my first ak build off a bulgy 74 parts kit, nodak receiver. I have gotten all the jigs (akbuilder), and tooling to complete the build, but I'm hoping to get some feedback from experienced builders on dimpling the front and rear trunnion tips and things to look out for during the dimpling process?

Also what is the correct look of the rear rivets on the original pattern fixed stock bulgy 74? I looked at a couple images but have found mixed results.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

What trigger are you using with the POS reciever? You will probably have to dremmel it out to make the trigger work. My advice? Sell the Nodak and buy an Elk River. Thicker steel, Rails already in place and a solid center support installed. Bent and ready to go. Tapco G2 trigger fits perfectly. No modification.
Cut the bottom off the demilled reciever and use the sides for templates so your rivet holes match the holes in the orginal trunions. Saves so much headache... Bending, welding rails, finishing. NOT! Just drill it and assemble it. Done. FK Nodac. They are weak...

What I use for the dimple is a 1/4" ball bearing that are easy to get at any bicycle shop. On the front Trunnion use the rivet squeezer (Bolt Cutter Style) with the bearing in the rivet cup. I tape all the other rivets in place to keep the trunnion from shifting when I dimple the rcvr. Google Toth Tool for jaws for the Harbor Freight bolt cutter.

Ace Hardware and Osh have those 1/4" ball bearings.

Thank you for all the help i was able to dimple which came out great and rivet the build but i have a question I got the rivets from akbuilder but the pack has two long swell neck rivets.

Are those long swell neck rivets for the forked rear trunnion?

No, you have the wrong rivet kit. The rear rivets are 2 swell neck 4mm and have about 1/2" long shaft and 1 long 4.5mm. They should be domed on the inside along with the mag well rivets. When your dimpling the receiver, use the tool in the long jig and make sure you brace the trunnion ears in the mag well rivet (when dimpling) because they will break.
Oh and NDS makes a top notch receiver. They have issues with the NDS3 but that has nothing to do with your 74 receiver. Feel free to PM if you have any questions, I've built a couple of these before.

Okay thanks I'll measure the rivets tomorrow, the two swell necks are shorter then the one long rivet which came in the rivet pack, but they still are little bit longer then the rivets that are in the front trunnion. That's why i was confused to where exactly they belonged.

Yes I'm using the NDS-2 "EZ" I heard their other receivers had the problem with the tapco G-2 which is what i was looking into, will it still work with the NDS-2 "EZ"?

The G2 works fine with all of the NDS receivers with slight adjustment for optimal function, the NDS3 just needs a bit more adjusting to kill the hammer follow problem.
To be truthful I try to induce hammer follow so I can fit that FCG correctly. 95% of most shooters will never have a problem, except when using the NDS3.
