    Simplest target I ever made.

Had a few drinks after work and went to the garage. This is what I ended up with using the 1 1/4" panhead screws and an old shelf. P.S... Panhead is the actual name of the screw...NOT a racist slur. Just wanted to clarify that... My last girlfriend was Vietnamese...Cute little thing, But what a B... Anyways...
The side screws (There is that word again...) are just slightly below center of the clay (1/16th") and tentioned so the other clays won't pop out when one is shot. Made it for dueling colts or a CA semi auto rifle. Can't wait to try it...

Great idea!. I've had the thought of taking my router and making slots or grooves in a 2x4 and standing them up.

I thought about that too. But unless there is a clamp of some kind on each clay, The others will fall off on a hit to the 2x4 unless the router is tight and angled to fit the clays and tilt them slightly rearward. So they balance upon impact. Hard to do... Plates have more weight and won't fall on a hit to the 2x4. If the router is deep enough...But dishes cost more than clays. And are not biodegradeable. Holes don't hold clays tight enough and too many clays hit the ground with a near miss. This is the best I have come up with so far. The clays are held tight. And will likey decentigrate more when the bullet hits the board and it is splintered. I'll let you know how it goes. This is another test...
My best handgun targets are 1/4" steel hung with 2 chains so they swing and drive the bullet into the ground when hit. My best rifle target is Tannerite with a good backstop... My Bad... http://s270.photobucket.com/albums/j...t=1aa715da.mp4

That's pretty sweet. Reactive targets are so much more fun than paper.

I hung three steelmrailroad tie plates -- about 8x10" -- from chains suspended from t-posts at 50, 100 and 150 yards. Nice ringers, never have to change targets though I repaint them every month or so. No doubt about hits and I've dinged them with everything from .17 to .45-110 rounds!

I have shot those too. 3/8" hardened steel.
62 gr green tips just dent them. 7.62x39 also. Yet to see what a 7.62x54 or 50 will do. Still hiking railroad tracks hoping I will find a few. Railroad workers used to toss them aside. But not anymore... Got to find older tracks to get those anymore. Those are great because they already have holes on the corners.

Small paper plates are good enough for me. These are 8 inch diameters. About the same size as the vitals zone of any person or large animal. Very inexpensive to make. Comes out to a fraction of a cent for each one.

I am long been tired of holes in paper. I want something that decentgrates. You will too in time... Got Tannerite? Say goodbye to paper plates. Thank for the reply anyways. Reactive targets are much better than paper. Time for you to move up... IMO...

OP why don't you hole saw out most of the area behind each target, that way it should last a lot longer. Most hits on target will go right through, breaking the clay but not destroying the board.

Diginit, sounds like it's time to get out and have a blast before they shut the gates. You need to try an AK 74
