    AK Rail Question

Built my first AK (47) with AK-builder rails awhile back and just started putting it together.

When fitting the magazine I noticed one of my rails it slighly long and doesn't allow for seating. The rail was trimmed and has has been heat treated and tac welded into the reciever so what are my options?

Dremel it down? And would I have to re heat treat it or would it be fine?

    Thanks

No need to heat treat the lower rails.

    Just trim it.

When you trim the rails, do you trim it straight across, or only in the dimpled area?

        All the way across.

Slightly higher. Even higher if you are building an AK74. After spot welding, you will trim to fit the mags for a nice snug fit.

Thanks. I now recall the heat treating was only important on the upper part of the rail pictured.

              Thanks again.

Just heat treat the ejector tip.
