    rpk done - almost

Got the bulk of it complete, I starting to wonder if I should go with a worn type finish instead of a new gun kote type look, still debating.

Big thanks to SJgunguy for helping me get the new barrel populated.

BFPU Style, no need to make it look purdy.

Laws that forbid the carrying of arms... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man. Jefferson's "Commonplace Book," 1774_1776, quoting from On Crimes and Punishment, by criminologist Cesare Beccaria, 1764

Did yours come with that cool brake? Mine only showed up with a muzzle nut.

Looks good to me! I like the worn look on them. Any advice you can offer on populating the barrel on one of these?

It came with a barrel nut also, but this brake just seems to go with it lime mac and cheese.

Given that this was the first time seeing the barrel populated, I don't have any real advise other then get some one that is real experienced to do it for you while you watch and take notes.

You get this kit & barrel from Apex? Please let us know how it shoots as I just got my kit prepped the other day.

Love it, except the brake... sorry, just looks out of place.

That looks great. UPS is dropping my kit off today. Still waiting on the receiver.

I saw one owned by someone on the AK Team and fell in love. Had to get one of my own.

Awesome build. Rock the worn finish for now. If you ever get tired of it, gun cote is an option, but the battleworn look won't be an option later, so enjoy it while you can.

yep its a kit from apex, the 'finish' is from the heat treatment. I have been doing full receiver heat treatments for the last number of builds.
The 1.5mm receiver does better than the 1mm flats, it holds its shape better with much less prep/head ache.
I actually tossed and turned over it given how much the 1.5mm flats are in supply at the moment and having one warp out of control would have sucked, But the full heat treat won out and not much of any warp (considering the jig (cough, screws, cough, nuts) I used.

As far as the brake, to each his own, its what I had on hand and I like the look.

I still need to install (solder and rivet) a side scope rail on it. The plan is to run a red dot on it for the hell of it, may not be standard, but that's how I roll ;-)
