    AR lower issues

Ok guys, this is my second AR pistol build. This time rather than go with the model1 sales kit I elected to go with the kit from gunsmoke enterprises. Once I milled out my 80% lower it was still aluminum from Aeroprecision so I had to color it. I elected to go with the shake and spray duracoat kit. I think this was a good idea however I didnt apply it correctly. I even ill advisely baked them as soon as they dried. This left bubbles and a runny finish. I tried to wet sand the lowers but that didnt work. The position I am in now is I wiped the grease and any oil from the lower. The finish on the lower is not presentable. I got the idea to respray the lowers however I cant get more duracoat until next week and I am getting my pistol built on Sunday. So a budy of mines suggested that I use engine enamel paint because it can resist oils and heat. since no metal was showing the idea seemed sound and like the only way I would be ready by sunday. After it was sprayed it looks pretty good,? my question is how long can this hold up and what are my options going forward? Would it be better just start over with more duracoat or will this last? Any other options that can be done quickly? Maybe I should try an anodizing shop? Guys what do you think, will the duplicoat bond with the duracoat or am I just being an optimist? Thanks guys.

Build it, shoot it. If it is horribly inaccurate refinish it. Do you care what your hammer looks like after a year of use? How about that screwdriver?

Kidding aside, you can always refinish it later.

Do you mean I could just re-paint the lower later, after its been put together? I doubt the paint job will affect how well it shoots

I suggest starting over with Duracoat.
When Duracoating anything remember the surface prep is everything.
Degrease, blast cabinet then strip again (Duracoat grease stripper is great).
I've used the Shake N Spray with great results.
Painting in cold humid area will gack your paint job too. Runs, bubbles etc..
Let part sit for 4-6 weeks and put it together.

It's ok we won't hold it againt you. After to shoot it you can always sand blast it and repaint. Sounds like you may have baked it at to high of a temp

See how simple that concept is? Now, if only we could have the same agreement on the difference between rivets and bolts (screws).

It was a joke. Firearms are tools, some tools look better than others, I don't obsess as long as the tool functions as it should.

I agree firearms are tools. It's just when you spend alot of money on something you dont want it to look ****ty. These guns are pricey nd somewhat of an investment. I jut want it to look nice.

throw it around on the ground for a while and in mud since youre refinishing it later anyways. I would have just annodized it to begin with though
