I need a gunsmith to assemble and properly headspace an ar 308 upper assembly. Anybody know any good gunsmith from personal experience? Let me know. I would definitely appreciate any feedback. Thanks

      308 AR Build

Any reliable gunsmith who can assemble the upper assembly of an AR308 with proper headspace? Let me know. A response will be greatly appreciated.

I actually have two 308 ARs that I need to be completed:

JD machine upper/lower and Iron Ridge upper/lower

You might get a better response if we knew where you were. Also ARs (even the .308s) are headspaced prior to pinning the barrel extension in place, so it's really unlikely you'll have a bolt that doesn't give the correct headspace. AFAIK the only solution for an AR with bad headspacing is to swap out bolts hoping to find one that works. No I'm not a gunsmith by any measure, but I've put together a few .223 ARs.

Sorry about that. i'm in the SF bay area. I wasn't sure mostly b/c the barrel and bolt packaging/manual all stress the importance in having a qualified gunsmith to install/headspace. To be honest, I'd rather have someone assemble them as I have no prior experience and the tools in building AR's. Thanks for the response.

Here's the deal Headspace is to be CHECKED and CONFIRMED to an AR but there is really little you can do to correct it unless it is short and then you need a pull through reamer and a set of gages to fix it.
Not having tools on the other hand is a big deal. Don't be afraid to ship it to someone that is out of your area that can do it.
