    Convert CZ75/97 to SA?

Anyone done this? I have a 97b that is my range 45. Its amazing accuracy and heft make it a joy to shoot. This pistol will go toe to toe and potential even surpass the best custom 1911s. The only difference for mine is the DA/SA trigger. I want to convert it to SA only and take full advantage of a crisp clean custom trigger job with over travel and reset adjustment screws. I want to use all original parts, nothing aftermarket for the trigger group.

My question is what is the difference between the stock DA/SA trigger and the SA only trigger? What do I need to modify? Worked on many other guns but I'm still learning about the internals of the CZ's.

Ask schmeky. He is around here somewhere.

There is definitely a trigger reset with CZ's that is more obnoxious than a good 1911. I am not, personally, going to spend a bunch to get rid of it.

Schmeky is a Cali guy? Wow, I see him on CZ forums all the time. Well, if he chimes in i'd love to hear what advice he has to offer.

        Remove disconnector, replace trigger.

I would replace the hammer/sear at the same time also personally.

He has made some posts here but I cannot find his user name now. He is very responsive at cajungunworks@gmail.com

I had Matt Mink convert my SP-01 from DA/SA to SA only (including the SA straight trigger). IIRC, it involved drilling another hole in the frame to change certain angles in the fire control parts. Costly procedure, but worth it if you like the gun.

That was done to reduce takeup/reset most likely.

The trigger system is the same for a standard DA/SA and a SAO, except for the addition of the disconnector, and a different trigger.

                DONE!

Took 5 hours from start to finish but its is freaking sweet now. Spent 1.5 hours of that just studying the way everything works. Very interesting design for sure. If it rubbed it was polished to a high shine including the barrel and hammer. I also played with the angles of the hammer and sear surfaces. At first I thought I could keep the DA/SA function but soon found out that adjusting the sear caused the timing to be off in the FCG and the DA parts were hanging up the hammer. I came up with a workaround but was getting trigger slap. Decided to remove the disconnector and what a difference that made. Just a butter smooth crisp trigger. Total movement from reset point to hammer drop is about 1/8th of an inch. Trigger is drilled and tapped with adjustment screws but I think I want a straight comp trigger from CZcustom.

Planning to hit the range this weekend. Hopefully it improves its already impressive accuracy.
