Is there more than one size of dust cover? I bought one for my stripped upper thinking they were one size but the one I got is too long and won't fit between the hinges

You probably got one for the AR-308/AR-10.

Thats what I was thinking might have happened. Does anybody have the dimensions of the ar10 dust cover?

AR-308 fits AR-style .308 rifles with 3.318" long x .884" high ejection port cover.

sounds like a .308 cover. Ive never seen different sized covers for the 5.56.
