    HELP! Need Advice :)

    Ok, where do i start?

My boyfriend is heavily into guns and builds so i decided to do something nice for him (since hes always spoiling me). He has his AK-74 kit but due to money issues he hasnt been able to buy the barrel. I would like to purchase it for him but i have no clue where to start. I would like some advice on good barrels, where to find them, and which are decently priced. If anyone could help me out that would be great. I am POSITIVE he has all the tools necessary for this build so the only information i need would be the barrel.

Also, i want to surprise him with an AK build party so does anyone know where (on this forum) i could find central California build parties?? Thanks so much for the help.

P.S. is there anyway i can block certain people from seeing this thread?!

not sure about thread blocking, but if you live near san bernardino i'd PM rocoborro on this site. he may even have one lying around his place.

U.S. made, non chrome lined. I'm sure people will tell you to go with an original (Bulgarian I assume) barrel, but here's a 922(r) compliance part, and the price is definitely right. I'd use one, without a second thought. Here ya go. http://www.atlanticfirearms.com/storeproduct1074.aspx

Thanks everyone for the replies. I assumed a decent barrel would be around 100 so those couple pages should work great. Thanks again

You might want to check with Greasemonkey, I believe he coordinated a couple build parties in the Fresno area last year, hoping there's a couple more this year myself, actually.

There are a couple of ways to go on this. If your BF has the skills to tackle a brand new barrel then the ones from Arms of America are good to go. I have 2 '74's built with them and they shoot great. If not then you could try to find one of the pulled Bulgarian barrels that will have all the cuts done to it as it came off a completed rifle. They go for more $$ and may not headspace correctly but if it does then his build will be more original and worth more $$.
