    Help! Stuck bullets in Corona!

I have a Colt 357 python and a 1911 Gold Cup both of which have a bullet half way down their barrels.

I know I could take a brass rod and try to tap them out but I lack the confidence to make sure I don't mess anything up.

I'd like to find a good gun smith in Corona I could take these two weapons. Any and all help is appreciated!

If no Corona locals reply, you can bring them to me....I'm about 30 minutes away when traffic is good.

The 357 was store bought ammo. the 1911 was a reload.

Brass is WAY softer than the steel of your barrel. You couldn't mess it up if you tried. Go for it. You'll do fine.

If it were mine, I would get a 5/16 brass or wooden dowel about 6-9" long(at least 2-3" longer than your barrel) place gun laying flat on its side on bench. Put it on a towel, mat etc... Slide dowel into barrell and whack other end with a rubber motivator(Mallot). If your still skeptical and would rather have someone else do it, I'm in east OC.

I am not a gunsmith nor do I play one on tv so take my advice for what you paid for it.

I am with the brass rod --
Wood dowels today are too soft and can easily split.
If you do use wood, keep it down to light taps.
A split dowel wedged in your bore is likely to muck up your day.

Dont use a wooden dowel, and dont take any advice from anyone who reccomends a wooded dowel, they will crack and get lodged in the barrel making it much more difficult to remove (long drill/mar the rifling).

Go to home depot/ace hardware/metal supply house, and get a brass rod, slightly chamfer ends and pound away with good lude in front and behind bullet.

Agree with this 100%, except use a close bore fitting mild steel rod. Grab your barrel in a BIG padded vise, and thump the rod with a BIG, HEAVY hammer. If you don't have the wherewithall to do these things, take it to a professional and pay to have it done right.

                        What is LUDE??

large wooden chop stick and a small hammer.

                            brass rod would be best

I had a squib from my early .45 loads(no powder checker at the time) in my 1911. Just used a brass rod. I cut it down to 10 or so inches. I made a cup in the end and took off the outside edge. This way it should be able to "grab" the lodged bullet but if it slips, the sharp edge won't be driven into the side of the barrel... though it really should harm anything. The bullet came out with less effort than I thought it would. The rod comes with me to the range every time. I pulled the handle of one of my files and stuck it on the end.
