    300 AAC Blackout

Im getting ready to do another 80% build but have some questions.

I want to build an AR for the 300 AAC Blackout rounds.

What lower and mag fits these rounds? 556 or 308?
    What size buffer is preferred?
Is there a different bolt for these?

Any info will really help thank you

Everything is exactly the same as .223 except for the barrel, this is the point to the round.

I am currently doing one in 7.62x40WT which is comparable to 300 Blackout but made by Wilson Combat. You may want to take a look at the information on 7.62x40WT which takes all the same parts as an AR-15 except for the barrel as well.
Since we can never hope to understand why we're here, if there's even anything to understand, the individual should choose a goal and pursue it wholeheartedly, despite the certainty of death and the meaninglessness of action.

This is my next project. Starting to get the stuff to reload for it together first, will start the upper in a few months. Going to play with loads for now. First thing I do when I move out of state in a few years is suppress it.

Dont forget this video of it suppressed.

My understanding. Generic 30 caliber bullets may require the inside of your magazine, sides, to be shaved in order to feed properly, see Pmags.

AAC has some purpose designed 300 BLK bullets that feed without magazine modifications, such as Remington UMC 115gr. new Barnes Vor-tx 110 gr., available next month etc.

Check this site for the most info, it is run by AAC.

Standard H buffer will work, its pistol gas for SBR and carbine gas for 16".

Standard bolt, lower, etc. just a barrel change.

Wow quick replies thanks guys so I will 80% a 556 and use the mags I already have.

The main thing is going to be hard to find is the barrel in 16 or 18 inch.

I have some research with the information I've already got

Plenty of 16" barrels. Delta company or blackhole weaponry.

What are you going to do with it?

Mine will be for hunting in the no-lead zone, so will be SS. Daniel Defense is coming out with one, according to their site, it will be chrome lined and LMT will have one for their MRP System which I bet would be chrome lined.

That's the beauty of this cartridge. I was fortunate enough to fire one built by www.jvdynamics.com

Using the subsonic 220 grain from Remington.

This 16" barrel had Surefire comp and I did not need to use hearing protection! Amazing! Imagine this fired suppressed...

I will be using it mostly for range days killing paper targets but once I get it broken in and sighted properly I want to use it to go hunting with.

I'm not sure what you mean by Barrett .50 Cal flash hider. AFAIK they have those big brakes on them. I haven't seen one with a flash hider on it. I sure as hell wouldn't want to fire one without a brake.

You use AR-15 parts not AR-10 parts. It is not a .308 Win case gun. It uses a .223 Rem case and necks it up to .30 caliber. The gun does not kick any more than .223.
