Stuck Bolt Catch Buffer & Spring

    Hey everyone,

I recently bought a stripped lower from another user on here. Well after installing everything I found that the previous owner neglected to mention that there was no tension on the bolt catch due to a stuck buffer and spring.

So does anyone have an suggestion or reccomendations on how to remove this stuck bolt catch buffer and spring?

    Thanks in advance

I fell into s "deal" with an OLL that the same issue as you state.
Remove the bolt catch w/3/32" punch.
Look to see if there is in fact a black buffer in there. Is it backwards?
(the one I found was installed backwards and stuck)
I drilled a small hole into the area where the bolt catch rests(from the top of receiver looking down). Small trough that it rests in. NOT side of receiver.
The drill bit size can be half of the width of the trough and drill the holelocated half the length of the catch (looking down at it). Drill down untill you break through. Not much is needed.
You will probably see a spring and or buffer glaring at you. You're looking at it from the top still.
Use a small tool/paper clip/pin to move the buffer sideways out of the installation hole.
Minimum fuss and your receiver has an extra hole that covers up when you assemble in correctly.
    Good luck.

      Thanks for the suggestion FeuerFrei!

Roughly where did you drill? Like did you drill past the buffer or on top of it?

Middle of the slot. I could not see how far to go, so I guessed half way.
About where the tip of the thumb is. BTW not my pic.

        I hope this helps you.

Thanks for the rec again FreuerFrei!

Drilled it not too long ago and fixed it! I ended up taking the old spring and chopping about 2/3 of it and popping it in the hole on top of the normal spring and buffer.

          Working like a charm now!

Mine did that today, I took the bolt catch off, smacked the lower on the floor and the buffer came out, the spring stuck inside. Got a dental pick and pulled it out. The anodizing was a little thick and it was gritty inside so I'm assuming that the anodizing went over some blasting media that didn't get cleaned out very well. Anyway I took a drill bit and worked it around (by hand), cleaned out the grit and reassembled it. It's all good now.
