Marlin model 700 trigger assembly upgrade

I have a Marlin model 700 .22 rifle. Gun is similar to the model 70 etc. as it is magazine fed and accepts the same mags. Also, like a model 60 in some areas. Upon taking it apart to clean, I noticed that the plastic trigger housing had cracked behind the trigger on the tab where it's bolted to the stock.

From looking at my stock trigger assembly, it matches the shape of the model 60 tube fed style rather than the one piece aluminum unit that I want to upgrade to from DIP Inc. with the mag well as one part that will fit the model 70. On my gun now, for the mag well it just has a thin piece of steel that is bolted down to the front of the trigger assembly and in front of the magazine well to the receiver.

I've decided that I'm gonna just get another stock, model 70 style that is, and install the trigger group in that and just leave my original wood alone as it is in good condition.

I have been doing quite a bit of reading and think I'm gonna polish up some of the action and possibly buy a lighter spring kit that will drop my trigger pull to a safe and reliable 3lbs instead of 6-9lbs that it is now. Some guys have messed with the sear angle and gotten trigger pull really low but if going lower than about 2lbs. it seems like they get unsafe/unreliable or just plain don't work, hence me not wanting to mess with the sear other than maybe some careful polishing. Just gonna start with carefully polishing the parts that rub or move against each other and see how that feels first. May or may not go with the lighter springs...

I originally had a question or more of wanting opinions, but have basically decided what I should do but if you have some input, feel free to lemme know your thoughts.

I found a really cool site that walks you through doing the trigger job but didn't want to step on toes by posting a link to them. Maybe when I get this all together, I will do a writeup with pictures and all if anybody cares to see that sort of thing.

    Take care guys.
