    Crooked Flash Hider

I purchased an AR15 complete upper assembly from LMT and the flash hider is a little bent. Is this normal? Shouldn't it go on straight if threaded correctly regardless of the washer?

    Comments appreciated..

    That ain't right.
Shouldnt be like that on a new rifle. If you purchased it directly from them, send it back to them.

Puh-lease....!! Its not going to blow up. If the bullet hits it, and that is a big if because the clearance through the A2 flash hider is quite generous, it is just a instant flyer. It needs to be repaired or replaced by the manufacturer. If it was bought second-hand, then it's tough titty, and on the present owner.

Well that's odd. I'd definitely send it back. I suspect it's cross threaded or the muzzle was improperly threaded. I'll go with the simple solution and say the FH is cross threaded on to the barrel.

Unscrew and inspect.. Maybe have to run a die on it to "chase" the threads.... I would peek before sending it back. But that is me... Things are not always perfect but if it's easy to make perfect that is perfect... Make it happen Captain.. lol

With a name like 0321jarhead, i would think you were a Marine, and would also think that you have seen the crappy weapons that were fired with not just a bent flash hider, but an entire bent barrel.

my buddy couldnt even get his rifle to zero because the barrel was bent.

OP- like mentioned, send it back

Yes I'm Marine. Once and always. And yes I have seen some rifles that had been screwed up. Some new as well as some that were not. Apparently someone was not inspecting them as they should. Also as one individual started by saying "Puh-lease", go ahead and you take a chance of maybe not injuring yourself but, perhaps others around you. I have had the experience in 1976 where a bad round (to much powder) when fired blew the bottom out of the mag and a round put a gash on the Marine's face next to me. Luckily he didn't lose an eye.

                        Thanks

Thanks for you input.. I took the rifle down to my local gun store to have it inspected once more before going to the UPS store to ship it back. The clerk was shocked to see something like that from LMT and of course offered to sell me one of his. Hopefully I get my replacement soon!

This is just a followup on my replacement upper. A new upper assembly was shipped back to me and was in excellent condition. It made the original look like it had been sitting in the sand for a few year and been usd as a digging tool. I dont know what happend to QA that day. I really belive I did pay way too much. $675 + $25 shiping twice.
