    Dan Wesson 15-2 cocking problem

    Hi, all,
I have a new (to me) Model 15-2 Dan Wesson Pistol Pac in .357mag. Just for fun, I purchased a small "concealed carry" Dan Wesson grip for it, and tried to install the grips on the revolver at the range, using the basic cap screw that is used for other larger grips (e.g., Pachmayr). The CC grips never really seated properly while turning the cap screw into the tang so I removed them and put the original grips back on.

The problem is, now the revolver won't cock. It appears that a threaded insert in the tang has been pushed deeper up into the tang and may be impinging on the hammer's ability to cock.

Has anyone dealt with this problem, and if so, do you have some suggestions or recommendations? I'm not a great gunsmith but I'm not afraid to try to fix if it's relatively straightforward.

    Thanks for any helpful suggestions!

Did it cock properly before? The DW has an overtravel screw on the trigger, if turned out too much the screw will meet the frame before the hammer & trigger meet full cock.

Will the gun work in DA? At what point do things come to a halt?

Hey, thanks for the response. The revolver worked perfectly before I tried to put the smaller grips on. I think what has happened is this.

When putting the concealed carry grips on, the standard-length cap screw bottomed out in the "main spring seat" and, when it could go no further, the seat itself started threading further into the tang. What I need to do is figure out a way to back the main spring seat OUT of the tang. Currently, it sits about 3/8 to 1/2 in into the tang! Other DW folks say, no good, the seat should sit even with the outside of the tang, maybe even protrude a little from the opening in the tang.

Anyway, thanks, I'll see what i can figure out to get that thing out of the tang so I can get back to shootin this piece!
