    Need a little help

I have a star BM that I need to replace the firing pin, I have the new pin and know how it goes in but I need to drift out the rear sight to get to the retaining pin.

I tried with a brass punch but it didn't move, seems to be pretty tight. Also I didn't have it clamped in a vise.

What is the best way to clamp in the vise without screwing up the slide? Leather? Also what is the best type of punch to use and where can you get them?

    Thanks in advance, Mike

clamp with leather. Clean leather about 1/8" thick. Then use a good heavy piece of brass rod to drift out the sight.
outside of that buy or build a sight pusher

        BTW
Be sure there is no set screw holding the sight in place. Also some sights are pressed in so tight you think it was welded on.
