Yep, two 3 torch cuts through the receiver each destroying 1/4 inch of material.

    Thanks Cokebottle.

Technically...no. Per ATF website- " Each cut must completely sever the receiver in the area indicated by the diagonal lines.
The receiver must be completely severed in each area indicated with a diagonal torch cut.
Cutting by means of a bandsaw or cut-off wheel does not ensure destruction."

        Heres a link too- http://www.atf.gov/firearms/guides/i...struction.html

it does, if you don't give up the parts of the reciver that you cut out to the buyer of said parts kit.

              BATFE specifies torch cut.
Minimum 3 cuts (not cut into 3 pieces, which is two cuts, and some receivers specify 4 cuts), 1/4" of material must be removed at each cut.

I suppose their idea is to ensure that a reweld is not too easy.

Regardless... cutoff wheel, bandsaw, and a grinder are not legal.

my rguns tula krink kit was not torch cut.. it was cut off wheel, i'm guessing by the dust and heat marks on the reciver parts tangs. the torch cutting is for if you are selling the parts of the reciver with the rest of the kit.

                  Nope.

Just because kits are being imported and sold that were not legally cut doesn't mean that they are legal just because all parts are not sold.

Normally with an AK parts kit, three parts are shipped and the 4th is missing.

Now that doesn't mean that the kit you received wasn't torch cut, then the parts shipped to you weren't cleaned up on a grinder... but it doesn't make sense that would be done since there's no reason to spend that extra time just to make a better looking kit.

You are assuming that ICE (remember, Customs is now under DHS) agents are on top of their game.

How about cut the receiver however you want and YOU keep the parts and do not give it to the buyer? Seems easy and would be fine cuz he can not put it together....

I guess I could cut the receiver with a torch and I dont mind cleaning up the cuts with a grinder will the be GTG. then I'll ship the kit. the only parts of the receiver that will be left the stubs riveted to the trunnions that way their is no receiver only cut scrap metal
