M-92 side fold build questions

I going to build a Yugo M-92 on a Nodak "kyber pass" receiver. My question is related to the front trunnion and the hook which retains the stock when it's folded.

The M-92 front trunnion is thicker than the standard trunnion used on side folding rifles. So if anyone has built one of these how did you modify the trunnion so the front latch would be in proper alignment with the window of the receiver?

You just drill it as normal, there's enough room in there for the latch to work. At least you got the easy receiver to use. Last one like that I built up was using a Armory USA 1.5mm receiver with no cut outs and the trunnion didn't match the rest of the parts. It took 2 hours of lapping to get that thing to cycle, now it's smooth as butter.

It's not the drilling for the pin. It's the bottom of the trunnion sits at least 2mm or 3mm lower and occludes the latch slot by over 50%.

As I see it (mocking it up as I type), you can open up the cut in the receiver downward a little, while at the same time shaving the latch slightly to work properly. Ask veterosa to send you some pics of his that Matt Yeamans put together.

Just mill for clearance. Yugos are over-engineered a bit over the standard AKM.

No one said mill the tang off. I say mill enough from the trunnion so that the latch mechanism can work properly.

Well I milled (Drill press and Dremel) out the trunnion for the latch. I ended up removing 2mm of metal and the latch works properly without binding. The process took approx two hours

The stock fits and the latch lines up with the sheet metal catch so all is good!!! I did not want to open up the latch slot any more than what cam from the factory.

So I'm happy. These are the times I wish I had a small mill.
