    Tapco Muzzle Brakes

    Happy New Years Everyone,

I want to put on another "muzzle brake" for my AK and it appears it's easier to use the Tapco line of brakes since all of them are threaded the same. I've looked at the "Cage Brake", "Slotted Brake" or the AK-74 style brake. In your opinion which one do you believe is more effective compared to my factory slanted brake????

I want it to be more on the functional side and less cosmetic.

I installed a Tapco RAZR on my AK, it function way better than the slant brake, the recoil is significantly less.

2 each his own but I think you should leave your "muzzle brake" as it is.
Anything other than the original slant brake is like putting a rear wing on a Volvo.

...UNLESS, you need it to meet 16"

I have the tapco AK-74 style. Works great, screws on in seconds but it weights ALOT.

And real 7.62x39 Aks from the 60's and 70's were produced with ak74 style brakes, so it's not like ur ricing it out with ugly door breaching brakes that look ridiculous when special models came with ak74 brakes.

            Speedpower,

I looked at that same brake as you have and wondered abut it. They call it a brake but it looks more of a flash supressor instead and I know people have named flash surpressors instead of the real name "BRAKES" Still though if it does work I'll look into it more but I much prefer the cage A2 style brake instead.

The AK-74 style I looked at also and it appears to be well made and much more sophisticated in design. I'll have to think about this version more but it'll be most likely my number two alternate over the A2 style cage.

Guys I can't say but for some reason I still like the slotted or cage A2 style brakes and so I'll think about them more before I plop down some cash for one. Thank you all for your opinions.
