My 391 is acting up. It's not cycling rounds manually. In order to unload the magazine, I have to eject a round, pull the trigger to allow the next round to come out of the mag, chamber it, eject it and then repeat for the third round. I've broken it down and can't find anything wrong other than the plunger carrier cap does not depress unless the trigger is pulled. Does anyone know if this is normal? I don't think so but, I can't seem to understand how it would depress when the bolt opens.

It's not the mag cut off. For some reason the little plunger that keeps the feedramp from going all the way down (to allow the next round to come out of the mag) does not depress when the gun is cycled manually. I have to pull the trigger to allow the next round to leave the mag. Any other ideas?NRA Certified Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun and Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor

Go to www.trapshooters.com and ask the same question. There are a ton of 391 guru's on that website that will be able to help you out. There a guy who goes by "Tron" who is a 391 smith and is always commenting on the Berettas.
I have a 391 and can't seem to duplicate the issue you are having. Check out the other website and see if they can help.Comment

Try pushing the button at the bottom of the lifter gate, this will drop a shell. Then you should be able to cycle the shells. The man who trades freedom for security does not deserve nor will he ever receive either.
