Best Tools for Working on Revolvers?

I would like some suggestions for tools (and/or tool sets) best suited to working on revolvers, including Arkansas stones.

    The more specific the better.

Get a Brownells catalog and go for it.

While you wait for the catalog to arrive, go here and buy what you need. http://www.gunbooks.com/catalog.html

Screwdrivers that fit screwheads perfectly are a must have.

Wet N' Dry paper of 600 and 1200 grit is all I use to polish the internals of Smith, Colt and Ruger revolvers. I wrap them around variety of small files that are flat, triagular, round and curved/flat.

An Arkansas stone, large & flat with a fine & medium side, is very helpful.

      That's about it for me.

From that link that -hanko posted (assuming you're talking about S&W revolvers) I can say that the "The S&W Revolver: A Shop Manual" by Kuhnhausenis absolutely invaluable.

AND! Screwdrivers! A good set. I can highly recommend this set:
Wheeler Engineering 89 piece driver set

I have a perfect Burning Man attendance record: zero.

Buy the tools as you need them. But first get some books
Pistol Smithing by Jack Mitchell. Gunsmithing: Pistols and revolvers. By Sweeney.
You'll figure out what you need

Thanks for the tip on the Wheeler kit.

I will probably go for that.

I had been planning to buy this stuff to start out:

The Midway/Wheeler kit is ok. That said, the Brownells kit is US-made, the bits have much cleaner machining and a lifetime guarantee. I'd recommend the Brownells set first with the Wheeler as a backup. It will be worth the wait.

You do get what you pay for, and Brownells customer service is the best in the gun business.

Get Kuhnhausen's book while you're at it.

I ordered the Kuhnhausen manual from Amazon.

Here is what I ordered from Midway USA.

                Norton Hard Arkansas Sharpening Stone Square 3" x 1/4" x 1/4" Ultra-Fine
                $12.99

Wheeler Engineering Brass/Nylon Hammer 8 oz
                $16.49

Wheeler Engineering 89-Piece Professional-Plus Gunsmithing Screwdriver Set
                $62.99

I trusted QBG on this one for now.

I lean toward your attitude regarding tools, hanko.

If the ones I've ordered prove less than required for my purposes, I will order different screwdrivers.

                Time will tell.

Thanks to all who took time to make suggestions and share experience.

Glad I could contribute...let us know what you're up to once you get your stuff. The book will be your best friend.

Received all the stuff today from MidwayUSA.

Will be doing simple disassembly and cleaning--maybe a little tinkering with Arkansas stone after shop manual arrives.

Am preparing to learn how to do a trigger job.
