    Blackthorne Kits

Blackthorne is selling AR-10 kits for $549. It says they are compatible with DPMS, CMMG, Fulton, JD Machine, POF, and Remington lowers. AThey also state that the rest of the parts are manufactured by Blackthorne them selves.

Anybody got any input as to the quality of their stuff or their reputation?

You will get flamers on blackthorns products. I built my sons 22 with a blackthorne 223 kit and it shoots great with a 223 bolt in it. They have had plenty of bad reviews and all were legitimate complaints. As far as the 308 kits they seem to sell a ton of them and haven't heard of one bad review so far. So with that said buy one and let me know how it is, I have a lower needing a cheap upper.

Had a co-worker (who had an FFL for years) give me his recent Blackthorne sob story about his AR-10. Bought it a year ago and FINALLY figured out all the problems it had to make it work. Final straw was needing a new barrel. They refused to do anything other than "look at it" at their gunsmith hourly pricing. When he publicly inquired to why and how on their Facebook page he was deleted, banned and ignored (by phone and email) when he tried to send it in as instructed.

I warned him a year ago to not use them on their reputation alone. He's just one in several hundred who have been blackthorne burned. Not to mention Vulcan/Hess/every-other-name-they've-had burned as well.

Their AR-10 kit has been "out of stock" for most of this year. I'm not even going to bother being another poor soul to test my luck again.

Personally I ordered my first part from them the other day. A Yugo M95 parts kit that I am happy with. I will count my blessing and be done.

Well,Im glad you had at least good news on the Yugo kit, because I just bought one also. Its due today. Maybe it worked out because someone else manufactured it.

            I two have a sob story with a blackthorn/hesse AR-10.
I bought two and they both were WAY out of Spec. The takedown pins, and buffer threads were cut wrong. I fixed the issue, but they never cycled right... I sold them both for $800.

That sucks because I am seriously interested in one of their .308's!
