Removing Slant Brake

I have a Yugo m70 and the slant brake won't budge. The barrel was pertty bad so I think the corrosion may have it stuck. I doubt this is the first time it has happened with a yugo, so what kind of recommendations do you have to get the brake off. Thanks

you know theyre reverse thread right? get some vice grips on it or chuck it up in a vise and spin. Make sure the button is pressed down all the way and isn't stopping the break from spinning.

Yep, reversed threaded. Use the vise and pipe wrench, button in and still won't move. May try soaking in liquid wrench for awhile.

That's about all you can do until its time to cut it off. Hopefully it will loosen with just the liquid wrench. Try heating it with a blow torch too.

I had the same issue and I coated it in WD-40 for a couple of days, used vise grips to hold the detent in, foot on the FSB to keep it down, and a wrench on the slant brake. Was tough to get it started but once it started moving it was easy. You could probably even try a hammer on the wrench to shock it into moving, just take it easy on that. And make SURE you're turning the right way.

wow you had the brake in the vise and you tried turning the barrel with a pipe wrench and it STILL wouldnt move? you sure you were turning it the right way?

only light heat then wrench on brake only. lock the barrel in a vise by front trunion

Extreme measure: Weld HF socket on it. Impact wrench. Im thinking you dont want the slant after shreading it up any way, right? And yes, REVERSE threads. Righty loosy, lefty tighty. Remember, you have to be at least 10% smarter than the slant brake.
