Richards Microfit Stock

I would like opinions and feedback on their stocks.I want to replace a Ruger 77-17 black plastic and do not want a laminated.Microfit will make them in 3-4 weeks when ordered and various grades of walnut.Ebony pistol grip cap and fore end included.Please if you have a picture,I would appreciate it.

Thanks for the interest folks.I have time on my hands so a wait is acceptable.Cost is a issue for me,so it was Richards or Boyds.Boyds only will do laminate.I think rifles are artwork,while handguns and shotguns are tool shed stuff.I glass bed everything that is without a aluminum block.Using only satin finish( I have been known to strip a new Weatherby MarkV and a Sako) of their gloss.I would love to see a picture of your stock(s).The Ruger plastic stock is the skeleton type and I wanted to change the length of pull,can't do it on that one.2 of the 6 Ruger 77 rimfires I own have that stock and another has the laminate.I guess I am getting *****y in my old age thinking laminated is heavy and so generic it is ugly.Any chance there is a stock that is like a B&C medalist out there?What grade of wood would you guys order from Richards? Seems the grades jump $20 each grade.I hope toby's turns out good.I have a walnut tree in my front yard that is going with me when we sell this house.I look forward to more info on this.

Once you get it and you finish it they are great stocks, I have one on my Savage Mk2 and I love it! However...


3-4 weeks is a joke, it took them 9 weeks to finish my stock. In addition there communications are stuck in the dark ages, getting a hold of them can be a huge hassle as they only do phone calls not email. It took about 50 calls to get through over the period of 2 days to put in my order. In addition they had an specific question about an option I requested for my stock, instead of calling me (they had my number) they send me a letter asking me the question and requesting I call them (wtf?). The stock was supposedly 99% inlet for my action and barrel combo. It probably took 2-3 additional hours to get the action and barrel to sit perfectly. Then there is the finish on the outside of the stock. There were tons of heavy machining marks on the stock that took tons of filling and sanding to smooth out. I would say I had another 25 hours into getting the stock perfectly smooth and ready for clear coat.

Again I really like my stock and it was a fun project getting it perfect but man was it a lot of work.

good company have used them for 25-30 stocks over the last 20+- yrs del/date varies with how swamped they are I usually get mine within 1-2 weeks of promised good at working on oddball stuff ie left handed thumbhole stock on mauser 98 great looking wood for the money . as for as inletting I have them get the action close and rout a 1/2 '' channel tor the barrel I acra glass action and barrel probley 2hrs+- with a fordom grinder if your good with a palm sander 35 min for finnish sanding . if your handy woodworking their second's are a fantastic value and alot of the time have great figure . i like going to their shop looks like a hole in the wall but the wood is out of this world. hope this helps mark

I have one on my .22-250 and love it. Once you order it it will take a good 2-3 months before you get it but once you have it finished you'll be glad you did.
