true but once its been de milled and cut its just considered scrap metal. although it doesn't look like that has enough cuts.

MKS rewelded some m14 receiver halfs and had them confiscated by the ATF.

The problem with the MKS rewelds was that they were not demilled properly, so they were still technically MG's, not scrap metal.

correct.

I'd check with ATF to make sure that they considered that receiver demilled properly befroe I had it re-welded.

ALL Winchester parts---had for a few years--100s of rounds thru it--
no problem.I did get an invite to the trial in West Virginia of the guys who
made/sold it to me! Interesting note--this happened about 10 years ago,
I'm pretty sure ATF did not get all of those rcvrs back--in addition to
their obvious faults,I believe the Kelly's did sloppy record keeping to boot.I
saw one of their works at ASR a few years ago---the guy that had it
probably had no idea what he had and it was none of my business
for sure.
