Beading on ejector tip - what rod?

I recently did some surgery on 2 of my guns AK pattern guns. I think the rod I used was equivelent to mild steel. I am not a welder but I use a tig in the shop on minor things here and there.

My question is. Will the average filler rod be strong enough for an ejector tip?
Should I redo it and get some 4140 rod and grind off the old tip?

I use ER70s2 for most stuff on the TIG. The key is the heat you put into the ejector, that weld deposit is heat treated and should be GTG as is.

The wise, learn from the mistakes of others.
The smart, learn from their own mistakes.
The others, well......they just never learn.
