    DIY Single point Plate

Yes they are cheap...and thats sorta the reason I built my own. I didnt like the magpul, Ikickhippies, tapco or blackhawk...but the blackhawk was the best for me. I just wanted a larger hook point.

    I purchased a SandStorm StrapWorks

    some more shots

dead center... using a dremel and holding it with a set of vise grips... I do miss my drill press
you start with two small holes.....

and slowly open them up til you have a dead center hole for your screw.

    rock on

I'm a function over form kinda guy. I'll take "ugly and better" over "pretty and good enough" anyday.

http://www.sandstormstrapworks.com/ can't say enough good about this sling. I may ask them to make me another with Dog hooks that have the spring loaded locking bar. He is looking into Mash hooks as well.

any way to bend the head of the hook downward maybe 15 degrees? as it is, it looks like HK or mash hooks would have the potential to get stuck between your doohickey (needs a cool name, btw) and the buffer tube during a shoulder switch.

just a thought. many props for epic DIYism.

Look like it probably works ok... I would bend it down just a lil bit like Strongpoint said.

I make a single point sling plate (Defense Industries) that fits any lower un-like the Mag pul unit... Would be curious if you like this one.. lol

Here is a link to check out one of the parts I make.

Nice! the only thing I would do different would be to blast & park it...

I was thinking of paying a local shop a 6-pack to park it for me, but I like the SS look too

I did put a slight angle on it also. Its works great.

We just cut the threads of of an uncle mike's swivel stud and tig welded it to the plate then cold blued it.
                      Works great.

Let me know if you want us to swap out the Hks for MASH hooks. Still trying to find a vendor so we dont have to pass retail cost down. Those things are really pricey still.

I did exactly the same thing, except I used Uncle Mike's swivel stud. This was before I bought an MS sling plate.

                            i can't see paying $30-$50 for a $0.50 part.
Put tactical in front of anything and it drives the price up
