    drilling barrel pin

im been thinking abou another aproach of drilling for the barrel pin.
If I were to bend the flat, rivet the trunions(front&rear) do the trigger guard,
weld the rails populate the barrel and my last step will be to set headspace and drill the barrel pin. this way I wont need to install the barrel drill pin and then remove the barrel to rivet what do you AK gurus think will it be easier or Im just dreaming.
What Im thinking of doing buying a AK74 kit build it and wait for barrels to come along

Headspace the barrel with the trunnion only. The barrel is easier to press back out without the receiver attached.

You can drill after everythink else is done,it just makes clocking and populating the barrel more challenging. Also, you need good support to press the barrel back out if over press to start.

I build from the trunnion out in both directions.
Easier to populate the barrel with the trunnion out of the receiver.
When barrel population is done (including drilling barrel pin hole for head space) it's simple to press the fully populated barrel out to then work the front trunnion into the receiver.
Population of the barrel without it properly headspaced into the front trunnion poses a few issues.
RSB is set to the back of the front trunnion.
GB is set using the gas tube off of the RSB.
Without the barrel head spaced into the front trunnion how will you know where to set the RSB?
If set too far forward your top cover won't fit correctly.
If set too far back the carrier will impact the RSB.
There are good reasons for building in a certain order. These are but a few with regards to population of the barrel.
