Never been to a BP, going in 2 weeks.

At what point can I help someone with their receiver? After it is bent into its final shape?

I am thinking that not everyone will know each step required and I don't want to accidentally get them or me in trouble with the laws. So thought I would ask, at what point can I help?

The way I understand it.....
They need to bend it.
You can help out with set up, and pretty much every part of the process as long as they are in your presence during the process.
When I help out I like letting the builder do the actual processes but basically help by setting up tools for them, and explaining what they should be looking for along the way as well as 'why' they are doing things a certain way.
That way the builder is not only doing the work required to build their own but they gain a better understanding of how, and why things work in the AK like they do.

Support, check, double check, let them "turn the wrenches", then explain inspection, allow them to inspect, then check inspection and point out anything missed.

For all intents and purposes, they did everything on their own, and you did nothing that could not have been done from 50 miles away with a cellphone and a webcam.

Legality aside, your goal should be to train a new builder. The less you do, the more they learn.
