What kind of scope will you be installing? Unless it's physically blocking the scope, it might not even be necessary. With a high magnification, the front sight block will appear as a blur, and you'll be able to see the magnified target just fine. With a 1X like an Aimpoint or a EOTech, the front sight co-witness is actually a desirable characteristic.

Having said that, in order to remove the FSB to cut the sight tower off, you would need:
        1. AR-15 Multi-Wrench
        2. AR-15 Front Sight Bench Block
        3. A set of sturdy pin punches and hammer (obviously). Remove the pins from the left side, when you are looking down with the muzzle pointed away from you (the side opposite the side shown in the picture above). If it's stuck on there, let it soak in PB Blast for half an hour to overnight. If that doesn't do it, then hit it with a heat gun for a few seconds.
        4. Since you'd have to remove and re-install your flash hider that is secured with a crush washer, you'd need one of those as well.
        5. A shop press would be helpful to remove the FSB from the barrel, but can be done with a few well-placed whacks from a rubber mallet.

As for the dust cover, since you have a conventional hand guard retainer, it may be necessary to remove the entire barrel assembly from the upper receiver before you would have clearance to pull the hinge pin out from the front. Barrel installations aren't that hard, but be sure to get a proper torque wrench.

Gavin Newsom is a lying, cheating slickster and will be is the worst mistake California has ever made if he gets now that he has been elected Governor. Hollywood movie producers look to him and his oleaginous persona as a model for the corrupt "bad guy" politician character. This guy is so greasy, he could lubricate an entire arsenal of AR-15s just by breathing on them.

Changed my mind on modifying my current upper. Few minutes ago I picked up a stripped spikes upper. Going to install the dust cover on it, it has a stock cover on now. I just need to take it off now.

Taking current Spikes M4 upper and swapping out the 16" barrel with a 14.5". I want to match the M4 mil spec much as possible.

Where can I get a barrel with muzzle break/flash hider perm pre-installed on a 14.5" barrel in 5.56?

Taking the old barrel and installing it on the custom build upper receiver, going flat top and short quad rail. (maybe)
