Let me start by saying I have purchased several items from Centerfire Systems in the past and I have always been happy with their service and products.
So I was looking at the TNW Suomi parts kits that Centerfire systems has, they are very nice and even come with a BATF approval letter...
http://centerfiresystems.com/hb-m31.aspx (I know they are out of stock, not the point)
Then I see the nice little note at the bottom of the ad "Cannot be shipped to California". I think to myself, huh, does it come with a 100% receiver? Nope, says no FFL needed, then I see it has a hicap mag included and I think to myself that would be real easy for them to keep and put back into their stock so I decide to E-mail them and see what the issue is. Below is a copy of our E-mails...
"Just wondering why your website says you wont ship this parts kit to CA.
You've always shipped parts kits here before?"
"Typically, the kits don't come with magazines, and these do, so that's one
issue, but I believe the core of this one is the partial receiver included
with the kit.
Thank you,
Centerfire Systems
Magnus"
"Can't you just keep the magazine? Many other retailers offer this option and
cite in their adds "no hicap mags for ban states". As for the receiver
parts, they are just that, parts. You add says no FFL needed so selling that
to us is is not in violation of ANY of California's laws. It's hard enough
to live in this state and deal with the laws on the books, but it really
hurts when outside retailers start denying us the few things that are legal.
Please give this some consideration and let me know what your conclution is.
Thanks."
"Yessir, if it was just the magazine, I believe we would have sold it
without, but as I mentioned, I believe the core of his concern is the
partial receiver, which he doesn't want to ship to any ban states.
Thank you,
Centerfire Systems
Magnus"
So, that pretty much seals the deal for me. I won't ever buy anything from Centerfire Systems again. Like I told them, it's hard enough to put up with the laws in this state without outside vendors coming up with new imaginary ones. I may pay a few bucks more from another retailer, but at least I know my money is going to someone doesn't punish us because of our state of residence.
