    S&W 342PD gunsmithing

Its time to upgrade my old 342PD so I'm looking for a gunsmith in the lower socal area to reduce the trigger pull of my older 342PD. I also plan to install a crimson trace lg305 on it. Any gunsmith recommendations out there? Thanks!

Ok....let's try this; where can I find a lighter trigger group, what can be done to the stock trigger group for a lighter trigger pull, is this a mod that can be done by a mechanically inclined diy'er, are these kinds of mods best left for competent armorer/gunsmith?

      I bought a Wilson spring kit for S&W J-frames.

I just swapped out the hammer spring to the 8-lb, and the trigger return spring to the 14-lb, and the trigger pull was much improved.

I would suggest S&W for the trigger work.

Thanks for the info, jimmykan! Have you experienced any FTFs with. This mod? Did it smooth the pull....for is smoothing a function of polishing certain parts of the trigger group?

I've had this BUG for years and it has always performed for me without hitch in its oem-stock config .with +Ps. I want to give it to my spouse but the trigger pull is a bit stout for her little hands. She wants a lighter pull without compromising function and safety. Although she has small hands, she still prefers a place for her pinky to contact, thus the ctlg305...might as well have an aiming device while we're at it, right?

That is always a consideration....could probably use a refinish, too.....thanks!

The real advantage to S&W is no worry when they polish stuff. I aways worry about the unkown gunsmith and polishing.

If you're in So Cal, I can swap a set of springs in a J-frame in about 15 minutes. No charge- but I accept ammo 'tips'

About the only thing I'd polish is the sliding piece in the rear of the trigger. The hand will wear in after a few hundred rounds and smooth itself out. (I've seen polished hands which made the gun's timing fall into the 'I'm not comfortable with this' territory)
