AR Front Sight Removal? HELP!

Hi All - I'm having some major issues with the removal of the standard A sight on my AR.

I have watched the videos on youtube and I built my AR, so I am familiar with the gun and how it's put together.

But damn! I've cracked two punches hammering away at this thing. I cannot believe that they are in there that tight (Yes, I know the pins are directional and from left to right).

There has to be some trick to this? I'm stuck. I can't hammer it any harder and these pins have not even budged.....not a little.

It's a stag 16inch upper. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

If they didn't pop out with a few good wacks, chances are you mushoomed the ends bigger and now they won't come out. In these cases, they need to be pressed out. At this point, you probably need to grind the pin head flush with the site and then press it out.

You want to be using a starter punch. A good quality nail punch can work in this instance. Solid backing, big enough hammer to do the work. Either the punch will give or the pin. It seems like G-Force might be hitting it right on the head. (yuck, yuck)

I have seen them right to left too from some manufacturers. I have seen straight pins too. It should be a taper pin so you hit the small end, HARD.
