Just received my Glock slide and barrel back from getting them custom coated. Slide (top and inside) was done in camo and aftermarket barrel was done in black. It worked fine before the coating was done. But now the slide will not go back on. Could it be the two coatings combined are causing interference?

Issue with Glock slide/barrel

If they worked before, then I got to assume the coating is too thick. I would check carefully for dings on the slide, i suppose it could have been dropped and the rail dented in. Were these finishes baked on? If it wasn't by a reputable shop familiar with Glocks, they have a plastic sleeve pressed into the firing pin channel. They melt if the slide is baked. I've had many brought to me over the years with melted and damaged liners after slide refinishing.Comment

The slide fits with the stock barrel. There is definitely a solid metallic hit when the slid stops about 1 1/2 inches from being on.Comment

So your saying, right now, you drop the stock barrel in and it goes together fine? take it apart, install the aftermarket barrel, and the slide wont go on all the way? Can you take a picture of it showing where the slide is stopping? There are not many things it can hang up on (trigger bar, slide release, rear rails.)Comment

Exactly. The very bottom of the barrel tab (behind the shallower tab) seems to be hitting the cross bar on the frame. So your saying, right now, you drop the stock barrel in and it goes together fine? take it apart, install the aftermarket barrel, and the slide wont go on all the way? Working with vendors and you guys posting here it's solved. Removed the coating material from the barrel hole and seating area on the slide. Then from the vertical faces on the barrel itself. Heading to the range to try it out. Thanks for everyones help. This site kicks arseComment
