Next Project: Tantal or Reg Underfolder?

    Ok guys,

I am ready for my next AK project. I have three 762's, so I thought a 5.45 would be in order this time around. Here is my question-

I want a folding stock- which kit do you recommend? Here are a couple of links from the ak-builder site-

    The Tantal-

    Polish Underfolder-

Funny, but the underfolder link doesn't even say what caliber. If its 762 I wont bother and find a 5.45 underfolder.

Plus, if anyone knows of a better place to buy from, let me know. Thanks!

RE: Folders. Once you get the OA length long enough for CA using way-too-long & heavy of a muzzle break, you might as well go with a 14.5" barrel , a short perm. attached muzzle device and a quality fixed stock (ACE). Most of the folding stocks provide very poor cheek welds for fast and accurate shooting, and considering the CA OA Length requirement of 30", I think a few more inches in length is well worth the price for a good fixed stock.
      Just something to think about!

Hmmm that is something I did not think about. I would imagine a VERY poor cheek weld on any underfolder.... hmm then maybe the bulgarian plum stock 5.45....

Yeah... I've yet to shoot an actual underfolder or sidefolder. But I've shouldered an AMD 65 and instantly hated it. When I built my 74 I used a Bulgy kit with East German furniture. Very comfortable and fun to shoot.

I've seen people wrap their folder stocks with paracord and other kinds of cloth, looks like it could be comfortable but I wouldn't know.

This helps, but its way overpriced (IMO).

Ya, that looks like a decent solution, but like you said, a bit overpriced. I've found a good solution for the AMD folder, which makes it a far better shooter (and half the price of that Samson solution!)
