    Polish Under Folder finish

What finish would be most appropriate for a Polish UF?
My kit parts look like a black paint finish.
Would black parkerizing or Brownells Rust Blue (black) be more appropriate?

I painted mine with Dupli color 500 low gloss black since the original parts were painted.

Seeing as the parts are painted I wouldn't think rust blue would hold true to the 'historic minded' AK people.

      Looks great.
Think that I will parkerize and paint the same.

Look into rust blue, it comes out very nice and if combined with parkerizing it will come out very dark.
Since we can never hope to understand why we're here, if there's even anything to understand, the individual should choose a goal and pursue it wholeheartedly, despite the certainty of death and the meaninglessness of action.

          Here's what I did

Top cover, bolt carrier, folder, and sight block are original finish. The barrel and receiver were in the white before cold bluing.

Dupli-Color has a wide variety of paints--can you be more specific about which one that you used. I could not find the model 500 on their website

Walked into my local O'Riely auto parts store, and got dupli-color 500 high temperature engine paint.
Comes in a black, and silver can with the color on the cap.
I like the low gloss black as it's a pretty good match to what the parts had originally.

              Looks
Like the can on the right.
              I recommend 'hemi orange'

Hey Nico....if I was to paint my AK (which is parkerized)....what steps do you take to do so..? Do you paint inside the receiver..?? Is a full on disassembly necessary..??

Paint over park is a good finish.
                  Complete de-grease is needed.
I paint the inside of my receivers as well as the outside.
Tape over chamber, muzzle, and gas port (keep the paint out of those places).
then 3 light coats. Don't want it heavy enough to create runs or drips, and it dries fast (10 minutes between coats on a warm day).
I pull furniture, gas tube, safety selector, FCG out before paint.
No need to press the barrel out or anything that extreme.
                  Here's Ollie's getting painted>>>

My Egyptian build I only painted the receiver, and left the original finish on barrel, and barrel pieces (just taped them off).

I painted mine before I installed the stock (on the polish UF).
You could paint over it but I wouldn't since the paint will get into the gaps, and would look funky IMHO.

i didn't have a problem painting mine with it on. just took longer. painted 2-3 coats with it open. gave it a few hours to flash, folded, 2-3 coats, then permanently fixed open. but i also painted mine 2 times. the first time was without the barrel installed.

For a more durable finish I would use and do John Norells Moly Resin semi gloss black. Get yourself a cheap HF airbrush and spray it then bake it. Much better than Duracoat in my opinion.
