I'm thinking of buying a ria compact 1911 but I'm only gonna purchase it if I can swap out the 3.5" barrel to a 4.5" barrel for accuracy and velocity increase I've never owned a 1911 but I understand some have a barrel bushin or something to hold in the barrel and I'm thinking that would be the only problem to arise any info would help thanks

Is there a reason you don't just buy a 1911 with a longer slide and barrel to begin with?I'm thinking of buying a ria compact 1911 but I'm only gonna purchase it if I can swap out the 3.5" barrel to a 4.5" barrel for accuracy and velocity increase I've never owned a 1911 but I understand some have a barrel bushin or something to hold in the barrel and I'm thinking that would be the only problem to arise any info would help thanksIf you can't explain it simply you don't understand it well enough. A true Commander barrel length is 4.25" not 3.5". An Officers model has a 3.5" barrel and a shorter grip frame. A "CCO" model uses a Commander slide on an Officer model's shorter grip frame.
Generally, Officer model and shorter 1911's use coned barrels and omit the barrel bushing. Finding an extended version could be difficult.
Personally I am a big fan of true Commander length 1911's and am not real fond of the shorter ones I have."You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."
"What we get away with isn't usually the same as what's good for us"
"An extended slide stop is the second most useless part you can put on a 1911"
"While Ruger DA revolvers may be built like a tank, they have the aesthetics of one also,
although I suppose there are a few tanks which I owe an apology to for that remark"Comment
