Refinished AK furniture

I refinished my AK furniture and I think it came out ok. Let me know what you think, this is my first stock refinish job.
The first pict is the before one.

Did you use shellac, spray or brush?

I used cabernet stain with poly high gloss, I used an applicator sponge (made for staining) to apply the prep, stain & gloss.
