    DPMS 308 boltstop pin removal

Any suggestion on how to remove the bolt stop pin on a 308 . The pin that holds the bolt stop i can't get it to slide out, i tried using compressed air to try push it out and no luck.

My bolt-release pin on my DPMS .308 was threaded and screwed in. You might need to get an Allen wrench small enough to fit it and just unscrew it.

Yeah, if it's a standard bolt catch pin it will need a very tiny allen wrench to get it out.

Sorry my mistake, I have a TM lower i built from 80% and it has a pin and lock with an allen screw that holds the bolt stop in place

Yeah, the set screw is removed the same way as any other DPMS pattern lower, it just needs a smaller hex wrench.

i think the issue with the tm lower is there is a pin AND a set screw. the pin is a tight fit, im not sure how to remove it without damaging the lower. I would suggest pm'ing nathan at tm, he is the most likely person that knows how to do it.

If he has the set screw out, he should be able to fiddle with the bolt stop until it's no longer putting pressure on the pin. At that point it should just slide out.

possibly, but when I installed mine it was a very tight fit, I dont think it would just fall out easily.

From looking at TM's website, looks to me the only way to get that out would be a pain in the rear.....Either drill the pin or cut out the bolt catch??? Either way is risking damaging the lower....

The problem I have is the pin wont slide out , i may have to just cut the bolt stop.

I had to send my lower back to tm for another issue, I asked nathan about the bolt stop pin, he told me if it was not press fit, tapping on the receiver usually can get it out. He was able to get mine out, and I hammered that bad boy in. I would once again reccomend calling or pm'ing nathan, he responds quickly, before you start cutting

Just like what cabinetguy said. It all depends if you press fit the dowel in but over screwing the set screw.

You are only supposed to screw it by hand until it stops. If you keep screwing it in you will never get it out with out cutting or drilling because the dowel is steel and will press fit into the receiver.

It is simple if you didn't press fit in, just re-leave the pressure on the catch and hit the buffer tower/stock on a table until it comes out. It takes some time but it comes out.
