Attaching a scope mount - Screws?

I have an older rifle in excellent condition. It is a Marlin model 57M chambered in .22 Magnum. It has factory-drilled and tapped holes on the top of the receiver, and I have a rail-mount (Redding) for the gun and yes I verified that the holes match up.

Where I'm confused is that the rail did not come to me with screws to attach it to the receiver. How would I determine what screws to get for this task?

The mount originally was provided with screws. The necessary screws are probably 6-48TPI, though Marlin has used the larger diameter 8-40TPI also. The shape of the screw head and the length of the screw you will need to determine. Your local gun shop may have an assortment of screws to choose from.
