    Rem 700 Bolt assembly

Question on 700 stock bolt/bolt head 'gap' upon reassembling after cleaning firing pin cavity/spring... I use the Kleineindorst tools so it is pretty straight forward (no shoe laces, etc) and noted upon reassembly a paper thin gap between the bolt body and head after screwing it back together "if" I line up the FP detent (otherwise, if fully tight the bolt won't slide into the rifle)...

Does anyone notice that (and of course I can't say I noted it before disassembling because it is a fine small gap) or have an experience with such?

The rifle functions fine but I wonder. Thanks!

Just to follow up on my own post... I "have" determined that the small gap between the shroud and body is 'normal' and fully functional. Thanks.

I think you are good, based on my interpretation of your description. The "bolt head" is actually called the bolt plug, and it must have some clearance to move along the 1/2-13 threads when the bolt is operated, which is roughly .019" for a 90 degree bolt lift.
If your actual bolt head is rotating on the body, you have other, much bigger problems!!

        Picture?

No rotation of the 'body' around the 'bolt shroud' and bolt moves as 'one piece' using the bolt handle... I didn't realize you could "tighten" it past the proper point but you can and the amount you describe is accurate. We are good to go. Thanks
