    AK rebarrel/refinish question

So I recently rebarreled a high round count AK. I have headspaced, drilled the barrel pin hole and have repopulated the barrel to drill the pin locations.

Do you depopulate & refinish (in my case, parkerize) or are you just refinishing the entire assembly?

Thanks in advance for your input!

Finish putting it together and pinning it, then refinish. Why work harder than you need to.

You'll scratch up your park job pressing the gas block, sight bases, etc. on. Do it, then park. Or..... ALUMAHYDE!!!

Thanks, that's what I figured. However, some folks get bent out of shape if an AR barrel isn't parked under the FSB.

I have my blast cabinet, park tank & solution, now I need time to get it done...

        Thanks again!

....Are you serious? No one's ever gonna see it! Not to mention it'll get f**ked up when pressing the FSB. This type of behavior is one of the main contributing factors in my distaste for the AR platform. It's not the rifle. The rifle is a very sound(somewhat overcomplicated) design that's been proven to be accurate and reliable. What I really hate are the people who so proudly fuss over them like the fat hideous mother of one of those 6 year old beauty pagent contestants.

I think of the AR as a prom queen and the AK as a biker chick. An AK does not need to be swaddled in a packing case to get it to the range, just wrap it up in a dirty rag and go.

Oh man you hit the nail on the head! Mil Spec this and that... what a bunch of BS. They will go on and on about BCM and Noveske being "top tier", but when you bring up building an AR out of a real Colt M16 parts kit (which is ABSOLUTELY mil spec, and a "top tier" manufacturer), they all clam up and ignore the post. It's so lame....

Lol... I hear ya, I build my AR's out of whatever parts I can scrounge up. I actually watched that pagent show the other day...compelling in a bad car accident kinda way.
