    Wrong round in chamber...

Client has just brought me an AR upper, chambered in 5.56 NATO, with a 5.45x 39 round quite stuck in the chamber... He also attempted to dislodge the round first with a wooden dowel, then with a brass rod... I've gotten the brass rod out, and I'm soaking the chamber in break free and bolt off... Will post pics soon...

I've shot some 5.45 through one of my ak's chambered in 7.62x39, shot well.... oops..
I would think the round would have exited the bigger bore 5.56, it happens! Lol.

Did the round fire or is it still live? I don't see how the bolt could even close on the larger bodied case.

try compressed air, just watch your fingers, when it comes out it will be in a hurry!

Yeah, um, no, will not fire another round through it... LOL The larger case of the 5.45 is really badly wedged in the chamber, compressed air hasn't worked, making the round inert now, already soaked the barrel with oil, and when I got the brass rod clear I noticed gunpowder on the end of it, so I'm hoping the powder is much less volatile...

LOL! I love these kind of oops moments.

I remember BSing with one of the guys at the reloading store at angeles one time. He showed me a 308 case that had been fired in a 30-06. It looked like a straight wall cartridge. I remember thinking it would have made a great bigbore wildcat.

CC -- I am sure you have tried all the normal methods - you might consider this one if the bore is still "watertight" : fill the bore with water and make close fitting plunger with an O ring groove -
I am sure you get the picture.
